Robert Duffy

Robert Duffy graduated from The Worcester Art Museum School and Clark University, followed by a Masters degree at Worcester State College. He lives in Worcester, MA, and this central location gives him opportunity to make daily painting trips which can range from the Rhode Island Coast to the Berkshire Mountains, additional longer trips are made to Northern Vermont, Bar Harbor in Maine, and the White Mountains in New Hampshire. His paintings are in private and corporate collections, and he shows work in galleries in all of the New England States, plus a gallery in South Dakota. Locally, he enjoys painting a small wooded stream, the Quinapoxet River especially in the winter.
Plein air painting offers the artist opportunity to observe and paint the effect of light on the changing landscape. "The light creates effects that are sometimes very subtle, at other times very dramatic; depending on the time of day and the season. I like to paint the dramatic effect caused by the sun, clouds, and changing shadows on the snow covered landscapes."
