Wes studied at the National Academy of Design in New York City and continued his studies at the Museum School of Fine Art in Boston.
Wes descends from a long line of artists, dating back to David Claypool Johnson, famous landscape satirist of the Civil War period.
His awards include selection to the National Academy of Arts and Letters, New York; American Artists' Professional League; National Exhibition, Second Award; Salmagundi Club, National Show; Serge Sondeikine Memorial Award; Audubon Artists, National Show; Muriel Alvord Award; Hudson Valley Art Association, National Show; Elliot Liskin Award; Kent Art Association, Tri State Show, Best in Show (graphics); Kent Art Association, Tri State, Solo Show and Best in Show.
Wes was born in Bronxville , New York , and in 1992 he moved to Boston , MA . He also became a member of The Copley Society in Boston . He lives with his wife and daughter in Hull , MA .
